PTA Activities – 2016 – 2017

After the PTA was formed for the academic session 2016-17, a meeting of the executive body was held on 31st August 2016.  In all there were 41 members to the executive body of the PTA.

The following are some of the activities in which the PTA was involved during the course of the year:

  • The PTA helped in the organization and celebration of Teacher’s Day in the school. We were given the unique privilege to honour Mrs. Rita D’Souza at the school assembly on 3rd September 2016, who retired from service as a teacher at the end of August 2016.
  • The PTA was actively involved in the discussions on child protection and safety.
  • At the request of the Management, this year the PTA felicitated the topper in the SSLC examinations April 2017.
  • In the month of October 2016, the PTA congratulated and recognized the talents of the senior football team players who represented Karnataka state at the National Level football tournament held in the Andaman & Nicobar islands.
  • The PTA assisted in the organization of a workshop for the parents of the Sunbeam Nursery students on the 5th, 9th and 11th of November 2016.
  • A seminar on career guidance was planned for the students of IX Standard.
  • On the morning of 24th and 25th November, the PTA assisted the teachers to organize the annual “Arrupe Talent Fest 2016,” for the students. In the evenings, the Annual Musical Fiesta was also organized. The proceeds of the Fiesta would be spent towards the infra-structural development of the school. All the teachers were actively involved in the organization, be it the games, stalls, entertainment, etc. The planning was done much in advance.
The PTA had eight meetings in the months of October and November which were chaired by the Principal and PTA President– Fr. Basil Vago SJ.  The biggest task was collection of funds to organize the Fiesta. Various committees were formed so that the responsibilities could be shared by all the members. Some of the high school students too volunteered to help in the games stall, entertainment and in whatever way they could.
The students were also given an opportunity to display their talents on the main stage, be it dance, song, etc. Food stalls (Veg and Non-Veg) rolled out their delicacies to the gathering.  The tiny tots were not disappointed as two horses were hired to give the little ones a horse ride. The most popular stall was ‘The Paulite Mart’ run by the former Paulites.
