St. Paul's - Trivia - Whole Boys School (1918)
The variety of dress, hats and caps and headgear bears witness to the various ethnic and religious groups to which the students and teachers belonged. Besides the Jesuit staff members (from left) an unknown priest (Fr. Jose Antunes or Savedra?), Frs. Bramley, J.B. Gonsalves, and Ayala among the lay staff are Mr. F.A. Britto, Mr. J. Frank, an unknown master, Mr. Gokhale and Mr. J.V. Coelho (who later joined the Jesuits and came back to the school as Principal, Fr. J.V. Coelho SJ).Unhappily there’s no way of identifying the names of these lady teachers. Students at the time were between 8 to 22 years of age. About a 100 years later, the school has grown considerably. Uniform dress has now become the great leveler, giving equality to all, independent of their social status, ethnic and religious backgrounds. All are now Indians and the tradition of Unity in Diversity is still prevalent in our school.
