Fr. Santosh Vas SJ
The present Rector of the Jesuit House (Belgaum) and the Manager of St. Paul’s is Fr. Santosh Vas SJ. He was was born on 16 May 1978 in Mangalore. He joined the Society of Jesus on 31 May 1997 and was ordained to the priesthood on 27 December 2012. He holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a Master’s Degree in Economics from Karnatak University. Throughout his Jesuit ministry, Fr. Santosh has served in several important roles. He was Principal of St. Paul’s Community College from 2012 to 2016, Province Development Officer from 2013 to 2014, and Secretary of Belgaum Xavier Company Pvt. Ltd. from 2013 to 2014. Since 2022, he has been serving as Director and Secretary of Shramik Abhivrudhi Sangh / Jana Jagaran. He currently serves as Secretary of Shramik Abhivrudhi Sangh/Jana Jagaran as well as Rector and Manager.
Fr. Santosh is deeply committed to social development and community empowerment, with particular interests in women’s empowerment, ecology, and providing job-oriented courses for rural youth. Fluent in Konkani, Kannada, Tulu, Hindi, Marathi, and English, he has dedicated his life to serving people through education and social outreach. His favorite scripture verse, “Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31), reflects the values that guide his ministry. A memorable inspiration throughout his Jesuit journey has been the Jesuit ideal of Magis and the motto AMDG (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam), meaning “For the Greater Glory of God.” His vision for St. Paul’s Institutions is to form young men and women of competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment through quality education and value-based learning, striving always for the greater glory of God and service to humanity.
