Dear Friends,

Warm welcome to St. Paul’s Covid Team. We, the Management of St. Paul’s along with our staff, parents and ex-Paulites want to reach out to the poor and needy during this Covid pandemic. So we have started St. Paul’s Covid Team, which is a networking platform to coordinate the Covid relief work among NGOs and social organizations. Kindly circulate this poster among all your friends and relatives and if anyone needs help kindly contact the numbers given on the poster.

Some of the Activities of the Covid Team

  • Date: 4th June 2021
    Met with the Management of the BHS Lakeview Hospital at 10.30 AM, at St. Paul’s High School, to discuss the possibilities of working together. After some amount of deliberations, it was decided to register the School as a vaccination center. Lakeview Hospital will procure the vaccines from the Serum Institute of India and will conduct a vaccination drive on St. Paul’s School Campus. In addition to administering the vaccination, the hospital will provide value added services such as sugar and BP testing before vaccination. The school will provide the infrastructure for a smooth and comfortable experience and there will be a room where people can rest after taking a vaccine. The hospital will also keep an ambulance on standby, in case of emergencies. 
    Vaccination will be provided to all, with priority to alumni, parents, teachers and their families.

  • Date: 5th June 2021
    Distributed 100 packets of food at Belgaum Railway Station – 50 packets were given to passengers travelling in “Haripriya Express,” which arrives from Kolhapur (Maharashtra) at 03:30 PM, en route to Tirupathi; 50 packets in “Rani Chennamma Express,” which arrives at 06:00 PM.

    Visited Belagum Anjuman Covid Relief Center and discussed the scope of working together to help the people.

    Identified and distributed Ration Kits to needy people.
    6 Kits to needy Paper Vendor Boys in Tilakwadi.
    2 Kits to a needy Covid Patient Family in Agarkar Road (Tilakawdi).
    13 Kits to various needy people, during the course of the week.

    Conducted a Covid Awareness Programme at Belgaum Railway Station, at 07:45 PM.
    Distributed 100 Masks & 200 Packets of Food to passengers travelling in “Nizamuddin.”

    Keeping in mind the shortage of Covid Vaccines in the city, and with a hope to vaccinate all the benefactors of St. Paul’s, the Covid Team, in collaboration with the Government Department Primary Health Centres, organized a vaccination drive at the PU College Campus on 24th June 2021.
    The doctors who gave their time were mostly Alumni and members of the PBW. On 24th June, a total of 163 people and on 3rd July, a total of 100 people (including the staff, alumni, and general public) were administered with Covishield.

  • Date: 4th July 2021
    Identified a remote village – “Amagaon” that was severly affected by the recent high rains and floods. The population of the village is approximately 450+, with nearly 90 families. The village falls under the Khanapur Taluka, and is on the Jamboti road, near Goa border. Their connectivity to outside areas is through a 6-8 km long walk and across a river, which usually gets flooded as it is deep inside the jungles of khanapur.
    Distributed the following items to them:
    Rainy Season Items – 22 Rain Jackets (Wildcraft)
    Sports Items – 1 Football, 1 Carrom Board, 1 Laghori Set, 4 Skipping Ropes
    Dry Food Ration – Rice 375kg, Rava 30kg, Poha 30kg, Edible Oil 100 packets, Dal 120kg

    The NGO headed by Santosh Darekar found out that a group of Lavani Artists settled in Mumbai, were in dire need of ration, and were unable to meet their daily expenses due to the pandemic.
    The St. Paul’s Covid Team and Facebook Friends Circle collected a substantial amount from various well-wishers and donors, and assisted these artists in procuring their ration. The same was handed over to Lavani Artist Mr. Balaji Chikale.

    It was seen that many of the students appearing for teh X Standard Board Exams came to the venue without masks and proper sanitizers. So the same was made available to them.
