– CELEBRATING THE JOY OF SHARING : St. Paul’s High School, Camp Belagavi, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great joy, harmony and togetherness, centred on the theme “Joy of Sharing.” The celebration was graced by Fr. Sunil Fernandes SJ, Superior of Bijapur Mission Station; Fr. Vishal D’Souza SJ, Principal of Loyola CBSE School, Sindhagi; and Fr. John Crasta SJ, Director of St. Anne’s Institution, Bijapur, along with Rev. Fr. Eric Mathias SJ, Principal, Fr. Alendro Dacosta SJ, Vice Principal, Jesuit Fathers, teachers, parents and students. Adding colour and joy to the occasion, some students came dressed as Lord Ganesha and looked like adorable “Bala Ganeshas” on the school campus. The celebration began with a warm welcome, followed by flag hoisting and the lighting of the lamp, symbolising unity, knowledge and the victory of light over darkness. An Inter-Religious Prayer led by the students highlighted the universal values of love, peace, compassion and service. A melodious welcome song further added to the festive spirit. The young Paulites then presented a meaningful drama on “Joy of Sharing,” highlighting wisdom, humility, patience, compassion, culture and unity. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Sunil Fernandes SJ spoke about the significance of Ganesh Chaturthi and encouraged the students to respect people of all religions and cultures. He also delighted the audience with a melodious Kannada bhajan. Tr. Nandini Pai shared the beautiful story of the birth of Lord Ganesha and spoke about the values we can learn from it. A vibrant Dance of Ganesha showcased the students’ talent and creativity while celebrating Indian culture and tradition. Fr. Eric Mathias SJ, Principal, encouraged the students to learn from and practise the good values and virtues associated with Lord Ganesha in their daily lives. The day beautifully conveyed the message that “When we share happiness, we do not divide it – we multiply it.”
