JESCOL Seminar – May 2026

Inspiring Jesuit Educational Mission : An enriching JESCOL Seminar for the teaching and non-teaching staff of St. Paul’s Institutions, Belagavi, Khanapur and Sangargalli. The resource persons for the seminar were Fr. Prashant D’Souza SJ, Finance Officer at St. Joseph’s Institution of Business Management, Bengaluru, and Mr. Prashanth Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and the Coordinator of SHIFT-III at St. Joseph’s University, Bengaluru and Mrs. Gowri Mirlay Achanta – Educationist and Training Facilitator, Bengaluru in the presence of Fr. Pedro Rodrigues SJ – Goa Jesuit Provincial and the Jesuit Management of St. Paul’s. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Provincial highlighted the noble vocation of teaching and encouraged educators to work with dedication, compassion, and responsibility. He also stressed the wise use of Artificial Intelligence and technology in education. The seminar focused on Jesuit leadership, collaboration, social responsibility, and the Universal Apostolic Preferences. The resource persons conducted lively and engaging sessions through presentations, games, activities, and inspiring examples. They encouraged teachers to strive for Magis by always doing something more in their profession and daily life. They stressed that teaching should be joyful and interactive through songs, quizzes, games, storytelling, and creative methods. Speaking on Multiple Intelligences and Cura Personalis, they encouraged teachers to motivate every child with patience and care. The staff members reflected on the mission of Jesuit education, the Characteristics of Jesuit Education, the “Four Cs” — Competence, Conscience, Compassion, and Commitment — and the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm.
